Inuit Legal Stakeholder Summit May 1-2

The University of Manitoba and Perrie Law, funded by the Law Foundation of Manitoba, are hosting a Summit on the viability of an Inuit Legal Clinic in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They are interested in learning from stakeholders and organization and to seek input on the development of an Inuit focused Legal Clinic. They have funding for a limited number of attendees’ travel and accommodation in Winnipeg. Information on the proposed Clinic can be found in this Primer.

The Summit has two purposes:

  1. To listen to community experiences with cross-jurisdictional legal issues; and
  2. To determine the viability of an Inuit Legal Clinic in Winnipeg.

They ask civil society members and organizations to attend both days of the Summit. We ask members of the Judiciary and Parliament to attend only on May 2, 2024.

Following the Summit, all attendees will receive an electronic copy of the Inuit Legal Clinic Cross-Jurisdictional Needs Assessment, completed in part through research in advance of the Summit, with additional information added to include contributions of attendees.

Should you have any questions about the Summit or wish to connect over the phone, send an email to administrator@perrie-law.ca.
